This smart grill comes in built-in and stand-alone models of different sizes to fit your needs. 2015 marked the first instance of collaboration between the two companies, in which they designed and produced 100 hand-painted refrigerators for the Salone Del Mobile design fair in Milan. The collection was called “Frigorifero d’Arte,” and each one of its FAB28 fridges bore a hefty price tag of £36,000 not a casual purchase by any stretch of the imagination.
“I think people may be bored of kitchens being as minimal and invisible as possible. I’m demonstrating that kitchens can have a sculptural impact in a space, and promote new ways of eating preparing and enjoying food” says Tom Dixon. The Air Kitchen plays with the idea of floating, using space, open shelves and balanced artifacts from the Tom Dixon collection.
The design firm envisions this theme spreading beyond the walls of the kitchen to entire houses and buildings, imagining the next step of our living conditions. MVRDV hopes to take the accepted norms of today and push past them toward newer, better solutions. The desire for transparency has already resulted in a project called ‘Crystal Houses’ in Amsterdam, a traditional facade made from glass, as well as an office with all glass interiors, furniture and equipment in Hong Kong.
The shelves also come fitted with indents to hold wine bottles in place, so there’ll be no slipping and sliding! Wooden storage boxes that are made from the same material as the cutting boards can be pulled out from the bar block if you need to dig into them to get something or removed altogether. To top it all off, the bottom shelf of the bar block is great for storing baking trays, as it has a slightly higher opening than those above it, making the entire unit perfect for insertion beside the oven.
Every inch of space is given good use: cupboards in base units incorporate drawers, shelves and bars to hang things on. The SieMatic aesthetic has always hinged on minimalism and good engineering. Things just do what they’re supposed to do – and look every inch the part.

So why not save some space with an ultra-compact kitchen module that contains all of the basics with the smallest footprint possible? This design is smaller than a typical kitchen island, and even features a fold-down dining surface.
