If you enjoy having dinner ready to put on the table the minute you walk in the door, we suspect you’ll take to Mellow. “Our design directive is to make your cooking experience as effortless as possible,” explain the designers. “We redesigned the way sous-vide cooking works to make it as perfect for home cooks as we could.”
However, the common dishwasher is far from perfect. One way that loading and unloading dishes from a dishwasher can be a bit more annoying than unloading a countertop dish rack: it requires repeatedly bending over. The way a conventional dishwasher opens can also infringe upon limited floor space, making small kitchens feel even smaller and requiring acrobatics to reach the cabinets around the open door.
A cooker top and kitchen sink snugly reside in this cutting-edge urban showcase. When you don’t have a lot of space and you need to utilize one room for cooking, for eating, for working in, for watching TV… well these units take (and also make) the cake.
The Vertical Bar Block is flexible in terms of positioning and can be inserted between existing units or just added on at the end of them. The entire unit is only six inches wide and is designed to align with the top of a fridge, allowing it to be positioned as necessary.
When you’re downsizing into a space-challenged apartment, getting rid of a bunch of stuff is the first step, but actually, living there on a day-to-day basis ultimately requires all sorts of space-maximizing tricks and hacks. Encompassing the true spirit of Sicily, the companies’ newest line of kitchenware is adorned with prickly pears, bright cherries, citrus fruits, and acanthus leaves, all of which have been painted in Dolce & Gabbana’s characteristically quirky and vibrant style. Framed with traditional triangular decorations known as “crocchi” and covered in delicate floral patterns inspired by Mount Etna and the Southern coasts, these appliances are certainly SMEG’s most colorful designs to date.
One of those ‘so simple, why didn’t anyone think of it yet?’ ideas, the idea of a vertical dishwasher somehow still hasn’t been made into a reality by an appliance manufacturer. Given all the research and development carried out by companies like General Electric, you’d think someone would have jumped on this by now, so many there are some drawbacks we’re not aware of. But as far as appearances go, this looks like a winner that many consumers would purchase in a heartbeat given the opportunity.
