At the start of 2016, Caesarstone, manufacturer of quality Quartz surfaces for commercial and domestic kitchens, began a year long collaboration with British designer Tom Dixon. ICE (shown above) introduced a series of four conceptual kitchen installations inspired by the elements Water, Fire, Earth and Air.
“I think people may be bored of kitchens being as minimal and invisible as possible. I’m demonstrating that kitchens can have a sculptural impact in a space, and promote new ways of eating preparing and enjoying food” says Tom Dixon. The Air Kitchen plays with the idea of floating, using space, open shelves and balanced artifacts from the Tom Dixon collection.
vertical dishwasher“Each basket could rotate along jack axis for better access to every corner of the baskets,” say the designers. “The tray for cutlery is in the front side of the baskets. Narrow design of these small baskets lets you save more room for bigger dishes or pots. Detergent dispenser and rinse agent dispenser is in front of the machine in a reachable place. In front of the machine there is a line of LEDs. When you see this light bar from the doorway or other rooms, you can understand which cycle the machine is working on.”
Fresh herbs are integral to a well-prepared meal, and growing them right in your kitchen within arm’s reach of your prep counter couldn’t be more convenient. But few kitchen herb planters make the process of planting, growing and harvesting them easier than the Verdure, which requires no more effort than a bit of water every now and then.
Opposite the built-in, the other side of the room is left open, with plenty of space for free movement, but it’s easy to imagine this setup working for even smaller apartments lacking that living and dining area, so long as you don’t mind looking down on your partner as they cook. The glass pane gives a new meaning to the phrase ‘breakfast in bed,’ but a curtain panel could always used to provide privacy when desired.

The Gali kitchen is the intention of letting each individual distribute their space as they want having everything necessary to cook when wanted or needed but allowing the living space to embrace new possibilities such as nomadic life, as Gali can be taken apart in four modules so you can pack it as part of your luggage when moving.”
