It has to be said: wow! These units can fit happily into one-room living, and they can look just as fabulous in a large (and fabulous) space. This kitchen incorporates a mini-garden of living greenery, so you can snip your herbs, cook your food, sit down, eat and enjoy. Ab Fab, dahling.
Integrated household design company Henrybuilt is one such organization, casting its watchful eye over its clients’ living requirements to come up with tailor-made solutions for every room in their homes. From kitchens to living rooms and bedrooms, Henrybuilt prides itself on providing holistic answers to the daily questions of household living. Their new product, the Vertical Bar Block, is the latest string to their ever-expanding bow of domestic problem-solving.
One of those ‘so simple, why didn’t anyone think of it yet?’ ideas, the idea of a vertical dishwasher somehow still hasn’t been made into a reality by an appliance manufacturer. Given all the research and development carried out by companies like General Electric, you’d think someone would have jumped on this by now, so many there are some drawbacks we’re not aware of. But as far as appearances go, this looks like a winner that many consumers would purchase in a heartbeat given the opportunity.
According to Eli Feiglin, The Vice President of Marketing at Caesarstone: “Each year we explore a new design concept that displays different elements of Caesarstone; be it new colours and textures, or inherent surface characteristics such as strength and durability. This year (2016) we are pushing the limits of experimentation with the material, collaborating with design innovator Tom Dixon. His work is extremely inventive, fresh and thought-provoking; and we feel it brings a fascinating new angle to the creativity typical of Caesarstone’s kitchens.”
Making its debut at Kitchen Home Project, a satellite event at the 2016 Venice Biennale, ‘Infinity Kitchen‘ is an oversized kitchen island made entirely of transparent glass for an appearance that literally lets it all hang out even the ugly back-ends of dishwashers and other appliances. The modules contain drawers, shelving, cabinets, counters and faucets that call for transparency and clarity. Whether or not the overall effect is messy and chaotic is up to the end user and their habits around cleanliness and organization.
Henrybuilt has also designed a Horizontal Bar Block, which can be used alongside the Vertical Bar Block for even more flexibility and storage space. This can be placed at either the top or bottom of the Vertical Bar Block and aligns with its ends for an aesthetically pleasing configuration, but it can just as easily be installed on an island or peninsula to provide more storage in the middle of the kitchen. Check out the rest of the products on Henrybuilt’s website to see all the ways your kitchen storage can be transformed.
Though most of the world gets along just fine without dishwashers, a lot of people have gotten accustomed to their convenience, and it’s hard for many people to imagine completing daily kitchen tasks without one. Compared to the process of hand-washing, it’s definitely faster and less labor-intensive, and it can arguably waste less water, depending on the machine. But we tend to take for granted just how easy it is to load it up with dirtied items, add detergent, press a button and wait for them to come out sparkling clean to the point of complaining about the task of putting them away when it’s done.
Trying to fit everything into your home in an efficient and space-saving way can often be a tricky business especially in this day and age, when space is such a a hot commodity. Every inch counts, and that’s why we rely on architects and designers to come up with innovative solutions to help take the hassle out of everyday life.
